چکیده

AC loss generated in Superferric magnets composed of high temperature superconducting (HTS) coil windings and iron cores is one critical issues for rapid-cycling synchrotrons (RCSs) application. In this work, we carried out 3D FEM simulations HTS assemblies coupled with an core using the T-A homogenization method. The consist a stack double pancake coils (DPCs) wound 4 mm - wide Shanghai Superconductor wires average self-field current 192.6 A. numerical experimental results DPC (1 DPC) without were compared to validate Then, on different number DPCs with/without investigate influence loss. causes increase values assemblies. increases by factor five assembly that core. simulation result reveals strong perpendicular magnetic field penetration occurs even center explains substantial assembly.

Superior Imaging with HTS RF Coil

For the past 30 years, a major focus for new MRI technology and products has been in the development of higher field strength magnets. The rational for this is the higher the field strength, the better the Signal-to-Noise (SNR) of the MR image. This trend comes to an end as the field strength reaches 3Telsa (T), the highest field permitted for clinical use by FDA, CE and other regulatory agenci...

Numerical models for ac loss calculation in large-scale applications of HTS coated conductors

Numerical models are powerful tools to predict the electromagnetic behavior of superconductors. In recent years, a variety of models have been successfully developed to simulate high-temperature-superconducting (HTS) coated conductor tapes. While the models work well for the simulation of individual tapes or relatively small assemblies, their direct applicability to devices involving hundreds o...

AC Circuits with Coupled Inductors

Coupled inductors are described in Section 11.9 of Introduction to Electric Circuits by R.C. Dorf and J.A Svoboda. In particular, Table 11.14-1 summarizes the equations that represent coupled inductors in the frequency domain. Circuit analysis in the frequency domain is described in Sections 10.6 thru 10.11. Table 10.7-1 summarizes the correspondence between the time domain and the frequency do...

Inductance and Force Calculation for Axisymmetric Coil Systems Including an Iron Core of Finite Length

Abstract—This paper presents new semi-analytical expressions to calculate the self-inductance and the electromagnetic force for a ferromagnetic cylinder of finite length placed inside a circular coil of rectangular cross section. The proposed analytical model is based on boundary value problems with Fourier analysis. Laplace’s and Poisson’s equations are solved in each region by using the separ...

Losses in HTS Tapes due to AC External Magnetic Field and AC Transport Current

The E-J power law as electric characterization of the HTS material in Finite Element computations has shown good agreement with measurements of field-dependent critical current density and losses due to transport current. We use this technique to investigate the loss caused by AC transport current in self-field and in applied AC magnetic field in both rectangular monocore and multicore tapes, w...
